New Book Details History of Roland

Music technology book specialists Bjooks have announced the September release of their latest publication “Inspire the Music: 50 Years of Roland History”.

The book details the journey of Roland, one of the most influential and widely-respected music brands in modern history, since it began in 1972. Over the last 50 years, Roland has produced such classics as the TR-808, TR-909, TB-303, the first ever MIDI-enabled synth in the Jupiter-6, the JC-120 Jazz Chorus guitar amp and of course, the Space Echo. Add to this their pioneering work on electronic drums, digital pianos, effects units and guitar pedals, and it is clear that very few companies have had the impact that Roland has had on the electronic music scene. The 400-page photo-rich book details all of this and more (plus a few of Roland’s flops along the way!) and features:

  • 60+ feature articles covering 50 years of music tech history
  • 90+ interviews and stories with artists and engineers
  • Hundreds of instruments with detailed insights
  • Foreword by legendary hitmakers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis
  • 400 colorful pages printed on high-quality certified-ecofriendly paper
  • Hardcover format (9.8″ x 9.8″ / 25 x 25 cm)

With their previous releases, including Synth Gems 1, Pedal Crush, Push Turn Move and the Patch & Tweak series, Bjooks has gained a reputation for beautifully designed, informative and well-thought-out books, and we expect this one to be no different.

You can pre-order the book for $67.00 at the Bjooks website.
