Elektron Add Song Mode

Swedish synth makers Elektron have announced an operating system upgrade which adds a range of new capabilities to their Digitone, Digitone Keys, Syntakt and Digitakt instruments. This update includes a much-requested Song Mode.

Elektron Syntakt

Elektron says that Song Mode allows musicians to create, edit, and play compositions made up of dozens of patterns, extending beyond the limits of the 64-step sequencer. We can see this being a hugely useful feature for all kinds of scenarios, potentially even allowing artists to create entire set lists in a single song. Song Mode also allows the sequencing of external MIDI instruments.

Elektron Digitone Keys

Alongside the usual mix of bug fixes and performance improvements, other features are also part of the update, including new Portamento, Legato and Global FX/Mix functionalities for Syntakt and additional scales and a Keyboard Fold feature for Digitone, Digitone Keys and Digitakt.

Version 2.1.4 of their Overbridge software is also now generally available, which provides owners of compatible Elektron instruments more effective DAW integration than previously possible.
